Wolfgang Pauli and Carl Jung:
Matter and Psyche in Dialogue
Jungian analyst J. Gary Sparks
The discovery of quantum physics in 1927 marks a revolution in Western understanding. Wolfgang Pauli, one of the new physics' founders, met Jung in 1932 and the two men developed a life-long friendship. During the quarter century of their relationship they discussed in depth the parallels between modern physics and Jung's psychology of the unconscious. Friday's lecture will provide an overview of the life and work of these pioneers, explore similarities in their creative discoveries and consider the connections between matter and psyche that the researchers together found to enlarge the scope of Western science. Matter and psyche's continued challenge to psychological research will be given particular attention in the talk. Multimedia with discussion.
