The Creative Spirit
Elizabeth Fergus - Jean  Ph.D.
Presented by
One of the most common drives humans share is the desire and need to create.
We are surrounded by examples of this drive from the early cave paintings to graffiti drawn on highway underpasses. From where does this desire arise? Is it innate within humankind? A shared instinct? An archetype? Or is it simply a human need to express our lived experience in the world, giving voice to the shared personal, cultural, and universal experiences of life?

This lecture will explore some of the territories of creativity and possible ways for each of us to tap into own creative energies as powerful ways to engage soul and enrich our lives. Our discussion will include looking at three modes of the creative process (mimesis, informed intuition, and numinous) in relationship to such terms as: images; imagination; manifestation of form; mental process; C. G. Jung's "psychological" and "visionary" modes of creating; and the action and ritual process of creating that applies to each of us in any walk of life.

A combination of lecture, PowerPoint, and group discussion will be used.
